Double Threat
The Salomon Techamphibian, which is available for both men and women,
is affordably priced at around $75 on shopping websites including altrec.com
and is probably obtainable for even cheaper if you're a savvy sale
shopper. The Techamphibian stands out, even among the rest of Salomon
shoes, as a real winner. It is essentially a trail running shoe
and water sandal hybrid. The average person might scoff at the shoe's
outlandish design and question its' true utility. But for a beachcomber
or a serious trail runner not scared of rain and puddles, the Techamphibian
could easily become your best friend. Despite its unusual design the Techamphibian
is Salomon's best-selling shoe, perhaps a testament to the satisfaction
of first-time buyers. It is fast draining and lightweight, which means
it won't get wet and bog you down with water-weight. A highly breathable
single layer air mesh upper allows for quick drying and your foot is support
by textile and synthetic reinforcements that are also fast drying. An
adjustable heel strap and EVA molded midsole provide a snug, secure fit
and the shoe's lining is constructed from abrasion resistant textiles.
From trail, to marsh to crashing waves, the Techamphibian is a solid choice.
A Woman's Boot
The Salomon Dreamer W is a low-cut, comfortingly cushioned hiking shoe
designed for women. The shoe was tested by and for women alone, with special
attention paid to collar shape and sole hardness. The Dreamer sports an
unassuming but athletic look and weighs just 355 grams on average. Features
include synthetic suede upper, a rubber toecap, unabrasive lining material,
the copyrighted Contragrip outsole system and an EVA die cut midsole.
The midsole is constructed from Polyurethane and offers support, durability
and cushioning that don't wane with each hike. The Dreamer is a
worthy pick because it combines excellent and no-nonsense technology but
spurns chunkiness and doesn't go over the top.
